I did a one way car rental from LGB to SNA. I put 28 miles on the car & topped off the tank close to SNA. It took almost 3 gallons. Showed Hertz my receipts & they took off $6 off my bill. I told them the next driver will have a very full tank.

The gauge showed full at pickup but went off full about 3 miles from pickup. It appeared that the previous renter knew how to short the rental firm as the gauge showed full but wasn't.

I always provide a gas receipt if I drive less than 75 miles on any rental.
