Something of a blessing they've neutralised your STAR connection. Both LX and LH are fine, but the connection and the stopover make for an overlong journey - with way too few miles in budget Y!

If it's down to BA and Oman, and there's no lingering FFP contamination in the decision process, then Oman Air wins hands down. Greater comfort, terrific service and (for me) an excellent schedule. And probably a better fare.
