All I can say really, is that you'll find that the law (and concepts of justice) are different in developing countries and this has an impact on the way that the police and others involved will interact with you.
When you say that hotel security asked you to drop the charges because your assailant had already been 'humiliated enough' I 100% believe you as this rings true with the way local people may see the situation.
I don't really know what you can expect from Starwood regarding a matter that is now in the hands of police. Have you considered getting a local lawyer?
