Dear Global Entry Member:
Recent changes to the Global Entry program now require lawful permanent residents (LPR) to use their LPR cards at the Global Entry kiosks. Previously, LPRs could use either their cards or their passports at the kiosks. Effective immediately, LPRs must use their LPR card to initiate Global Entry kiosk transactions.

(It was news to me that my passport could be used instead of my green card. I was told otherwise in 2009, and used my green card.)
Nonetheless, a visit to the CBP GE office is necessary once you lose your LPR card and have a U.S. passport.
