If the battery actually is still white, just go back and ask them to explain/show you - it's pretty obvious. If you really want to go through them, and it is red, just get a new battery. But I suspect you'll get more in an ebay/Craigslist/etc sale.
(the idea of a water damage indicator on a removable part always struck me as odd).
