I have just booked a trip in UC flying on VS200 to Sydney in November and I was looking to get some advice.

This is a real treat for me and call me a sadist if you like but I love the whole experience of long haul flying therefore I really want to know how to maximise my enjoyment of the Clubhouse in LHR and the flight in general. I believe you can no longer pre-book treatments, so I presume it’s worth getting in early to ensure I can have a shave! Is there anything else I should be looking out for?

During the stop at HKG are passengers allowed to disembark and make use of the lounge there? Grab a shower etc?

Also I have booked seat 3a – Is this a good choice?

Coming back the return legs are split between Cathay and Virgin, so I am picking up VS201 back from HKG – Is there anything I should look out for in the airport here? Again I have gone for 3a, any thoughts on that?

It has been a good ten years since I have used a business class product (American) and from what I have heard and read the game has moved on a bit since then!

Any pointers would be very gratefully received!

Many thanks,

Ben
Hope you have a good trip; I did the VS LHR-SYD trip last May in UC and it was wonderful .
I got to LHR quite early and booked one of the free treatments which was OK, spent the next few hours enjoying the food and champagne, you have to maximise the enjoyment of CH access!
When you land at HKG for the plane to re-fuel and for some of the passengers to disembark/get on you will have to take all of your belongings off the plane and go through HKG security before you get to the Clubhouse which is 'airside' (for that reason don't be tempted to buy any booze or liquids in excess of 100ml or whatever it is at LHR 'duty-free' as they wont get past the HKG security....).
The HKG CH is much smaller (obviously) than the LHR one but very cosy and with very attentive staff.I was one of the first pax off my flight and made a bee-line for the CH to book my shower .
The bathrooms there were first-rate ;each supplied with a bundle of huge fluffy towels and spotlessly clean.
It made all the difference to be able to freshen-up in the middle of such a long journey, and now having sampled the delights of UC it really is torture at having ever to contemplate travelling in Y again....
