I've seen through this thread some success (in the past) of getting a status match from an airline despite not actually having re-qualified on their current airline. Has this happened lately?
I failed to re-qualify for AAdvantage gold last year, and thus the status expires March 1st. Continental and United both have numerous flights along the same routes I gook with American.
My current AAdvantage statement just shows my current status along with my YTD qualifying miles (of which I've got a few thousand now). Being that it's only mid Jan, do they expect to see anyone (especially at a gold level) with a bunch of EQM's at this point to justify a status match? Or more likely would they like me to submit not my current statement, but, my December statement?
At this point, it doesn't have to be United or Continental to match to, there are others that would be useful, but, I mention those two more as an example.
I guess I can always try and find out, but, if anyone has advice to improve my odds of success, I welcome it.
* Oh, and I'm not trying to compete with anyone for upgrades, just trying to get a priority line boarding, and free checked bag(s).
