I emailed the hotel about Plat upgrades and this is what I got back;

"We are very glad to inform you that we are confirm to open on 1st of March 2011. So kindly please advise us the exact date of your trip also how many person will be in your party including number of adults and children?

Regarding the Room Upgrade for SPG Platinum members, scheme will be as follows:
Retreat areas
......... Booked @ Garden View...... ......... upgrade to Garden Access
......... Booked @ Garden Access..............upgrade to Ocean View
......... Booked @ Ocean View................. upgrade to Ocean Facing
......... Booked @ Ocean Facing............... will not get an upgrade
Villa Retreat areas
......... Booked @ Villa Retreat...... ......... will not get an upgrade

For those SPG Platinum members who don’t get an upgrade, Hotel will present a small card which handed over to guest upon arrival.
Choices of ‘compensation’ are:
a... 250 bonus points
b... 10% discount on the airport pick up service, if guest request this service
c.... 10% discount on any Away Spa treatment
d... 10% discount on Laundry & Dry clean treatment

Please note that the upgrade schema is upon availability."

Look forward to hearing from some first hand Plat experiences as the above clearly is not in line with the "best available room" policy...
