Trip Report (With some pics) DUR-JNB-LHR

Hi everybody

If the pics don't come out, hang on I'll get it working...

This is my first trip report, so bear with me... I took some pics but it is difficult trying to take them without looking like a real newbee in the lounge and on board.

Arriving at Durban's New King Shaka airport gave me a slight inkling of LHR, all grand and majestic with lots of open space. Breezed through check in and made my way to the SLOW lounge (a new concept in South Africa which I think puts Galleries to shame - and yes it is a BA lounge!!) Some pics are a bity fuzzy, sorry - not the best with cameras

In JNB also breezed through immigration and was airside within 15 mins. Went straight through to Galleries, which a a bit of a walk, thought the upside is that it is near to the departure gates. Some of these pics are also a bit fuzzy, but you can still see clearly.

Eventually called and unfortunatly there is no priority boarding so I joined the queu whilst I was thinking of my 64K seat. "Good Evening Mr Seshman. Up the stairs, first seat on the right."

I must admit that the food was really nice! Small portions but still good, and piping hot BA style!!! No pics, but starters was Marinated breast of chicken with all the trimmings, or the usual rabbit food.
Mains was herd marinated beef sirloin steak also with all the trimmings (I had this - very nice!) or Cajun Kingclip, or cajun breast of chicken, or Rice Pastitsio and some more rabbit foord.
Dessert was summerberry pudding, and the usual selections after that...

Immigrations was quick as we were one of the earlier flights arriving. Went straight to arrivals and relaxed until it got a bit lighter to venture out...

No pics on the return leg as I had just come back from ORD and was not in a good mood to be taking pictures. However, we came back on the 777 300 (From ORD). And I must admit the new WT and WT+ look really good! Very nice IFE and I hope they unleash the Thales on more planes!!! As far as seating is concerned it is defintely more comfortable but as far as space is concerned, there is very little noticable difference to the old WT.

After a walk around London I made my way back to T5 and headed for Galleries North. It was pretty full, but a nice long shower made me happy! Oh yes, Immigration was quick, about 15 mins so no problem there.
I had 60K on the way back. Just for interests sake, the side bins are slightly smaller here as they compensate for the curvature of the plane.

Starters was Scottish Salmon gravlex with capers or Leek quiche.
Mains was Wiltshire ham and leek pie, or Halibut, or Dill and beetroot risotto and the usual salads for the vegs. Dessert (which was very nice, was Creme Caramel, cheeses and biscuits as per usual. We had a tail wind for a lot of the way and landed 30 mins earlier which menat I could get an earlier flight to DUR. the JNB slow lounge was similar to the DUR one but it had a good view of the aprons and runway.

Thanks for reading!
