Omni Joins Global Hotel Alliance (GHA)

Just received the following email from Omni. They joined the GHA, and your status from Omni (I was matched from Hyatt Plt) transfers over to the GHA Discovery loyalty program, which nets you some additional benefits. (FYI - login info from Omni works on GHA website)

The Local Experiences benefit is interesting, and if I'm reading it correctly, there appear to be some options with significant value (ie. complementary dinner at a 5-star restaurant). Platinum members start with one "local experience" while gold members earn one after their first stay, and black members have access to some higher value options. Many have to be booked at least a few weeks in advance, however.

I had not heard of the GHA prior to this, and I'm not sure if the Local Experiences benefit is new. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any experience with this program.
