Ah, this is what I feared, especially since I'm pondering whether to fly AS out west to go skiing/snowboarding.

From what I can tell on the website, checking in ski/snowboarding gear counts as ONE checked baggage as long as the linear dimensions don't exceed 155":

Oversize Sporting Equipment Exceptions: Golf Equipment and Skis/Snowboards

Each checked piece of sporting equipment listed [above] may exceed our size allowance (not to exceed 115") without incurring an oversize fee. Standard checked baggage service charge and overweight fee (51-100 pounds) apply for each piece checked. Refer to our Checked Baggage page for checked piece and overweight charges.

What's unclear, however, is the latter part of the statement: Do I only pay for the checked bag ($20) and NOT the overweight fee as long as my bag is under 50lbs? Or, does checking in my snowboard automatically incur the overweight fee along with the checked bag fee?

Thanks to everyone who has responded thus far!
