Have you received an e-mail confirmation? Does it include the PNR of both AA and BA? If so you could try to bring up the booking in ba.com. I'm no expert when it comes to PNR and I guess AA uses Sabre while BA is on Amadeus.
As you are a BA Silver and AA Plat you should for sure be able to preselect seats.
Yes, I called BA and asked for the record locator - they gave it to me over the phone. I went to BA.com and tried to 'manage my booking' and the website says: There was a problem with your request, please try again later. It's been saying that for the last couple hrs now!
Not sure if it's an issue with the record locator or with BA's website
