To be sure there is no misunderstanding points do not expire provided you maintain a card account enrolled in Membership Rewards. Points can be converted instantly to some partners (e.g. AC, BA, CO, DL, VS) but transfers to others (notably ANA) are slower. CO is departing Membership Rewards in September 2011 and UA will not be joining.
