There is a forum called lawyers.com where they have an Immigration section. I have seen many messages like yours.

You run a giant risk if you leave, then attempt to re-enter the US, including being barred to re-entry for 10 years. And, yes, they do bar people from re-entry even if they have small US citizen children, spouses who are dependent on them, etc.

Do not make a move without talking to a skilled immigration lawyer. Every day you delay will make it worse. There will be other reasons to go back to the UK in the future, such as introducing your child to your family.
