I need to ask this question again because I still don't get what the actual answer is.
When I talked to a CSR yesterday she said that if you book an award ticket and cancel within 24hrs,
everything will be refunded. But when I click on "cancel" ticket (it is <24hrs) it seems to show that only the miles and tax will be refunded, not the $25 service fee (this is thru a Gold's account)
I'd like to keep purchasing and cancelling to see if the flights we want open up, but if its gonna cost $25 each time I won't bother.
