No longer a FF, but I (used to) think that on "tight" connections (say <45 minutes) your luggage will always make it, but problems (delayed bags) may appear for longer layovers. At one point I though this is because luggage was handled differently in each case (AF maybe had a fast luggage transfer system to bypass the normal circuit at CDG?)
