Most wine bottles are very strong....they're designed for longevity and being given a few hard knocks.
My wife dropped a bottle of Malbec the other day. Like in slow motion I watched it tumbling to the ground. I felt helpless....the table was between me and it so I couldn't dive like some cricketer in the slips to catch it. I waited for the inevitable explosion when it hit the solid tiled floor....boing....boing....boing it went before eventually coming to rest.
Totally unscathed it was so we opened it and had a glass or two with dinner.
