Hence my suggestion to get an AMEX to fix this all, as they are on seperate system that does not support DCC at all so you always get local currency transaction.
However with AMEX you will still pay a foreign conversion fee on RMB billing. It used to be 3% but I think I read they had reduced that to 2.5%. With other credit cards (see my previous post for a partial list) there are NO foreign conversion fees.
I will ask today upon checkout if I can turn off DCC but I am not counting on it.
Ask to speak with the Front Desk Manager and strongly relay your concern. If enough people complain they will set up their system for no DCC. I was in China over Christmas, stayed at 7 properties (3 Marriotts) and this was the ONLY property that billed me in US dollars even though i specifically asked them to bill me in RMB.
