I just had a 3 day rental of Sonata GLS in FLL. Mine had just over 500 miles on the odo and had working XM. Choices on the EA were 3 sonatas, 1 fusion, a few malibu's, impala's chargers avengers and 1 altima. I had wanted a fusion or a sonata so I was happy to have had the choice of either. For a base car, the sonata is pretty well loaded with power everything - minus seats. I like the steering wheel controls and the view out was good all around. I enjoyed the base sound system, bluetooth and XM. Plently of room in the trunk for 2 large suitcases and a smaller suitcase with ample room for other stuff. The drivers seat was very comfortable, would be even better if it had power, but the manual adjusters worked well. Nice cupholders and storage. I tested the rear seat and its equally impressive and roomy. The standard 2.4 4cyl was a suprise for me. The car is rated at 198 and it sure felt like more. The engine does not sound as refined as V6 or V8's, but it was quiet at idle and only got loud at high rpms. Cruising at 75-80 the rpms were just over 1,000 which is like idle speed, but that can be attributed to the 6spd auto which was a smooth trans. I averaged 33mpg with a mix of 70% highway (75-80 mph) and 30% city over 300 miles of driving. One thing that i really didn't like or get used to was the steering. I'm guessing it has electric power steering and it felt very light and i needed to make quite a few corrections to keep the car going straight.

Overall I would definitly put this at the top of my sedan list when it come time to rent again. Hyundai is making some excellent products and I would seriously consider buying a sonata for a DD if I needed one (to me, that says alot)
