I have asked our Citibank Branch Manager today to contact Corporate on my behalf. She wanted copies of the letter closing our account and the link to my thread here at FT describing the fiasco. We'll see.
I absolutely guarantee that you will receive no response if you do not send Mr. (or Ms) Wheel the letter I suggested.
Send the letter, then, if no response in reasonable time file complaint with appropriate federal regulator. If a N.A. (National Assn) then regulator is the anti-consumer Comptroller of the Currency. Even so, complaint to them should draw a Citi response.
Or, this may be your chance to be one of the first to use the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau complaint procedure--assuming this drags out until July 2011.
