Shabby Sheraton
Yes sir, it's in Austin Texas, the home
of the valued Platinum Concierge Desk.
I Checked in last week, there were two brand new trainees working the front desk. I booked two rooms, the extra one was for my associate, the new clerk give my preassigned room to my associate,(no Starwood affiliation) an I received his room. Ah, room
1615, it is right on IH 35, and I mean right on. Anyone who knows Austin, knows it's the busiest thoroughfare in Central Texas. I mean it was noisy. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall in the minisize bathroom. The room hadn't been painted since the property was built as The Waller Creek Hotel some twenty years ago. Next morning when I expressed some surprise at my Platinum Level
Digs, the roomclerk apologized, and wrote me a voucher for 5000 Starpoints. After a week I checked to see if my points posted. Imagine my surprise, none had. I spent over
$120/night but the hotel wouldn't credit me.
I sent an email to LURKER, and he very promptly got it done. Thanks LURKER. I'm
still waiting for my 5000 points, and my 500
point amenity. The normal rate for this property is over $140/night, a bit overpriced. The pluses at this property;
They have a nice breakfast buffet, the car valets are fast and efficient, and the only
experienced room clerk, Claudia was helpful.
There was no front desk manager, nor sales director on the premises. As a new Starwood Platinum, I expect reasonable value, and
accurate posting of award points without a whole lot of extra effort.
I hope this was an aberration, Hilton and Hyatt have done much better.
