I can tell you that the absolute worst advice I ever took was to drink through the jet-lag, and I tried it on a 24-hour series of flights from the Pacific Islands to LHR. It involved a few beers, some wine and slightly more than litre of spirits over that 24-hour period!

On the plus side I remember very little about travelling in Y. On the downside the jet-lag lasted for a fortnight!

Listen to the people above. I now often combine a sleeping tablet with my food on long-haul, and then pass out. This usually helps matters.
