OT: Dealing with jet lag on a killer Aus trip

I'm due to do LHR-Brisbane-Melbourne-Perth-LHR in a week.

I'm pretty used to doing US trips and dealing with the jet lag, but I think this is taking it up a level.

I'm leaving Friday evening, arriving Brisbane Sunday morning.

Does anyone have any practical advice on how to survive the out bound and be fit for work on the Monday?

Is there any point in trying to shift my sleep pattern a little before I leave?

Sedation via alcohol or drugs is an option i'll consider.
