I didn't risk using the higher speed connection at HR Sacramento, because the front desk agent conclusively told me that Diamonds only get the lower speed link. Maybe next time the solution is not to ask in advance, just pick the higher speed link and demand to have any charges removed?
At the HR Sacramento, I didn't ask/they didn't tell but at checkout they where only going to remove $9.95 from the bill and charge the difference. I protested a little and they removed the entire charge but again YMMV.
