One thing you night like to consider to go along with your present is a headphone volume control to limit the volume. I find that the volume on the IFE (especially the PA announcements) with my own cans, a pair of the Sony MDR-NC50 is too loud even on the lowest setting and as a result I like to use a headphone volume control to limit the volume. You don't say where you are based but if in the uk this is small, cheap and works very well, I would expect RadioShack or Amazon etc. will have something similar.
