Sounds just like the FI San Carlos- they have one T-1 for all the rooms. From what I understand the owners refuse to pay for more bandwidth, and since everyone complained they had AT&T come out to evaluate, who essentially said "The Internet is slow because everyone is using it. HTH."

Good news is there's a strong Sprint 4G (WiMax) signal there (probably due to the hotel being right up against the 101) and I use my dongle- it peaks around 700 KByte/sec., even during the "pr0n hours"
