How about those hotels that have pre-keyed and such, but then still take forever to process your check-in?
Maybe it's just me, but when I see they've already assigned a room, I expect to swipe my card and be on my way. Instead, a lot of times they'll be typing away for a few minutes.
This happened to me last month at the Prince de Galles. I had a somewhat complicated reservation, but despite having pre-assigned me a room, they pulled out all kinds of paperwork they wanted me to sign (which they couldn't figure out how to properly complete). In all this time they managed to not acknowledge my platinum status (great way to welcome me on my first stay as a plat) or mention anything about an upgrade. At least ten minutes later they were finally getting us up to our room.
Anyway, this happens all the time. I think psychologically when I've seen they've preassigned my room and keyed the keys I get more frustrated by a long check-in, versus if they hadn't pre-assigned anything.
