I ran into a similar situation earlier trying to route SFO-ICN-NRT ... the SFO-ICN was like ~$1k, ICN-NRT was ~$500, but when I try and price it on .bomb it came out to ~$3k.

Is there some way around this?? Or is it pretty much a situation where you may want to consider purchasing two separate tickets and take all the inherent risks associated with that ...

Also, is there some way to forecast when this is going to happen? For instance, if i try and price that on ita software, it comes out to the price I would expect (~$1500), so then I try and book it and get some crazy price ... would like to save myself the hassle of calling up an agent only to be told that the price is obnoxiously high.
