As others have mentioned, the breakfast spread is more than adequate. Be prepared as there are no hot items, but a broad variety of pasteries, cereal, fruit, etc. There should be something to keep everyone full and happy.
Evening snacks are typically very nice as well. Lots of fresh bread with artisan cheese, and usually 3 different cold appetizers that are pretty good cuisine and are typically plated. If your kids just like the down home basics, some of these may not appeal to their palate (frequent use of shimp, usually one plate with Asian influences, etc.), but otherwise it's a very nice spread.
I'm not sure if internet is included but a number of the Atrium rooms have Macs in-room for your use. Since you're traveling with kids, and I'm sure they'll be ready to play with the Mac if you have one in the room, let me give you one piece of advice: clear the internet history, cache, etc. before the kids use it. You're probably not going to want them looking at the same sites as some of the previous guests. You may not want them sitting in that desk chair either.
This Westin is a solid property, albeit stingy with the upgrades. Hope the family has a great stay.
