The fare classes is a complex thing, and changes from one airline to another. most people who don't travel much do not know about this, and do not really understand that there is much more in terms of fare to coach/biz/First . i really don't blame them.
but to be announces that they are on stand by, pay upgrade to U class, and then get to see half of the plain empty, it really gets to to feel that you've been screwed.
I imagine that was explained in court proceedings though
