The flight out to PEK (which was a final destination, the plane landed and stayed in PEK for the night) was scheduled to leave at 5:05 and according to the gate agent, pushed back at 4:55. There were several of us on the flight, and the pilot was aware of the tight connection, and contacted the ground for us. Oh, and we were 3 gates away in SEA, a mere moment of walking.

The folks on the ground each said that they didn't know why the flight to PEK wasn't held, and quietly told us that they think we should complain loudly online to Delta. I arrived in PEK a full 24 hours delayed, and had to fly through NRT to get there.

I am but a lowly silver. What should I get in terms of comp for the delay? Yes, I arrived alive and with bags and I do understand that. But this was a Delta caused delay. I'll go for sky pesos. Thanks for the guidance, road warriors.
OP, state your case in an email to Delta and you'll get a bunch of miles thrown at you. My guess is anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 miles for your troubles. There is no hard and fast rule as to what you should get and it will ultimately depend on the agent that handles your email. You should report back here what you wind up getting.

Wrote Delta CS to complain, and asked for reimbursement for my hotel (159 Euro). They promptly said they would reimburse for hotel and added 23,000 Skymiles (23 ?) for my trouble.

As always when asking for compensation, be polite, concise in your letter/e-mail and request specifically what you want.
It continues to amaze me how Delta will sometimes throw money and miles at a problem that clearly wasn't theirs and other times will be stubborn to compensate for a problem that was definitely their issue.

I'm not sure if DL does this because SkyTeam is supposed to be partnership or because AF/KL are part of the joint venture. Either way, congrats on DL reimbursing you but this really should have come from KL. Maybe DL has some way of getting the money back from KL.

Edit: did you at least get WBC on the flight the following day to MSP?
