You make a good point about priceline. If they want to exempt that, I understand, although I wish they would give some option to earn stay or night credit on those. I too think it's great that they give elite benefits on all stays. But if you don't pay the magic number, and still are an incredibly loyal guest, you don't get the benefits of said loyalty when your status runs out because they aren't giving credit for stays at such rates.

But what I don't like is that all sorts of other rates where you KNOW the hotel you will get don't qualify for stay/night credit, even though you are making a conscious choice to stay at that hotel.
