I'm not proposing that full points be awarded, but just that credit for status requalification should be. This keeps the cost minimal. Charge an extra $2 for it then. Make it an option to pay a few $ at check-in to get stay and night credit for status requalification. But when push comes to shove, I'm not paying an extra $25-$30 a night just to get stay credit and $5 worth of points.
