The information may not have been (probably wasn't) erroneous at that time. (and you may want to read the rest of the post that you truncated for dramatic effect)

there's not a logical process where you carry some of the over to "qualify" but don't carry them over to "rollover". Either they count or they don't.
It's actually a very logical process, and extremely relevant if 2009 nights can't rollover into 2011. If you would like to understand the relevance, feel free to read the post about LIFO & FIFO.
