I'm trying to stay for a little under 200USD/night. Preferred starwoods, but I guess thats not going to happen.</font>
I hope this doesn't come off "wrong" or offensive, but lots of people have given you excellent advice here yet you continue to say no. Why post if you don't like what people are telling you? BlairVan Horn is the supreme Paris guru on FT (and a wonderful person to boot!

. Please - people post because they want to help, but if you keep saying no, then many people won't bother.
Whenever I go to Paris I never pay more than $80 a night. However; I don't stay in chain hotels either - points aren't always the "thing". How much time do you really spend in your hotel room when you're in Paris?
Check out the citadine apartments as well if you're staying for a long period of time. You may also want to ask your friends if there is space in the dorms at Sorbonne since it is summer.
If you want to stay under $200 US then do a search as has been recommended by three other posts in this thread. There are lots of options to choose from. Don't worry about the points. FYI, the hostels in paris are quite lovely and charming actually.
