Both my wife and I are on the same PNR for a trip next week. It was booked as an award.

If my wife wants to return a few days before me, is it a problem that we are on the same PNR? She will be at the airport (assuming there is award space available).

I'm assuming that the agent at the airport will split the ticket at that time to allow her to return home while preserving my return flight as was originally scheduled.

Does anyone foresee an issue with this? I understand that this will take a some adjustments by the agent, but I don't see this as violating the "spirit" of the award ticket change rules, although breaking it into two PNRs might technically require a change fee.
