Hey guys,

I've got a YRWSTAR fare coming up later this year and I'm reasonably familiar with the rules. I know you can pay a surcharge on SK and NZ to upgrade to premium economy, but what I was wondering was if its possible to upgrade from M class, to Y or B class, on a particular carrier. I realise its still economy.

I've got about 16,000 United Miles left in my account and if I'm traveling in Y or B then an upgrade to C on my LAX-SYD leg is only 15,000 miles. If I'm traveling in M class, then the upgrade cost is 30,000.

So, I'd like to just pay a surcharge for that one sector and travel in Y or B, so I can upgrade using miles...

Make sense?

Any ideas?
