Specifically, I am looking at the Cosco Scenera vs. Combi Cocorro, both referenced above. Mrs. Milesjamie, Milesjamie Jr. (who will be 13mo; 22lb; 30in at time of travel), and I will be doing BOS-PVG (Shanghai) for a couple weeks. This will be Jr.'s first airplane trip. I am not looking forward to 17+ hours of travel time, and my question is your thoughts whether whatever extra padding is on the $160 Cocorro will make a difference on a plane vs. the $40 Scenera. I am assuming the price difference is partly in the padding? I would pay the $120 difference if it meant for a happy baby but I see the Scenera recommended over and over for long distance airplane travel and it may be good enough as is.
I am a little concerned about an Amazon review that says the (paraphrasing) their baby couldn't stand the seat after 30 minutes. That could be true for a thousand reasons but I wanted to get your success or failure stories with these seats for really long-haul travel.
You have to try at home or in your car first.
Plus no matter how comfortable the seat may appear no kid will be willing to spend 16 hr in it - the seats are required for takeoffs and landings but in between you'll have to add some alternatives.
