The very first London tube bombing occured in 1885 by the Fenians. The IRA bombed the tube at various times during WWII. The IRA has bombed or attempted bombings at hotels, and tourist locations such as Harrods, Hyde Park, Regent's Park. Ask the people of Manchester what the IRA did to their city centre.

Those are just a few I can think of at the moment - you may need to go check your facts.
