Thumbs down New (poorer) Exchange Rate for AA Miles into Honors Points

I just txfrd AA points into HHonors points (for the third and last time). I'm not a frequent flyer on AA, just earned miles through promos & CC usage.

To my surprise, the exchange rate has been devalued! It is now 6K AA miles into 10K HH points instead of 5K.

According to hilton.com, it is still 5K:

http://hhonors1.hilton.com/en_US/hh/...esforpoints.do

If you're not an AA elite member you must have at least 25K miles in your AA account to make the txfr. I waited until I had 25,141 miles to make my 25K mile txfr into 50K points, but had to settle on a txfr of only 24K miles for 40K points based on AA's ratio:

Transaction ID Partner Description Unit Cost Quantity Total Cost
1192716 HiltonHHonors Points Exchange 24,000 n/a 24,000

The points have already posted to my Hilton acct:

Activity Description HHonors Points Miles Earned Date Added
20,000 AMERICAN MILES EXCHANGED 40,000 0 08-Jan-2011

Funny it shows 20,000 miles, when in reality 24,000 were exchanged.

I wrote HHonors customer service and received this reply:

Dear Russ21Atl,

Thank you for your message to Hilton Reservations and Customer Care. It is my pleasure to assist you today with our request.

We show that 40,000 points were added to your HHonors account from an American Airlines transfer on January 8, 2011.

We appreciate this opportunity to assist you and thank you for your continued loyalty! If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.

They didn't even read my email explaining the error. I advised their website is outdated and doesn't accurately reflect the new exchange rate AA is processing. I asked to have the 10K points be credited to my account as a goodwill gesture due to the error, but since they didn't read my email, no luck addressing that.

Any suggestions? Contact HH customer service again or AA? I realize exghange rates can chg, but Hilton should 1) update their website, 2) update their accounting system to record transactions correctly, & 3) have their customer service agents actually read incoming emails.

I'm only a Hilton Siver VIP, but have earned 2M points over the last 12 yrs and expect a little better customer service than this.

Thanks for your comments.
