Thanks for this. I've actually considered all the points you raise and that's why I concluded the Dolphin is the best option for us.
As I note in my post, we intend to spend LESS time in the parks, and when we do go to the parks two of the four are in easy walking distance. If we were to stay near MK instad of Epcot, we would have only one within walking, and long treks to all the others.
As for MK, we'll probably go there a couple times. We have no issues with the cost of the Dolphin's town car. Certainly less expensive than renting a car. And way, way more than offset by the extra thousands we'd have to pay at the Contemporary for a suite of the same size and value as the Dolphin (free upgrade at the Dolphin, remember?). Quite frankly, I could use the town car multiple times a day and still be ahead financiallyof what it would cost for the same accommodations at another WDW property.
Also, we found out first hand last month the MK has less to offer 2-year-olds than some might think. Much of MK is more greared to older children & adults. Even the Pirates of the Caribbean was 'too dark & scary'. We actually found Disney Studios to have some of the best offerings for our kids, and both AK and Epcot kept their interest as well. MK has some kids rides that we enjoyed in the evenings when the park was less busy - and that's what we will do again in April. At this age, we find a few hours in the morning at the parks is is all they can handle, before returning to the property for lunch, pool time and a nap to get recharged for the evening. Which may well be simply a nice stroll(er ride) through Epcot, or around the Epcot area boardwalk, shops & restaurants.
So, all in all, given the circumstances, I am VERY happy with our choice this time. In fact, I thnk this is the better location for some of the very reasons you advance with respect to our children's ages.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
Cheers,
