Have to say that there are several things that are available to BA to asses your 'worth' to them. Tier points on flights are one way they do this. However, there are other things such as CIV score and cabins that you travel in and are prepared to pay for.

I have been Gold for many years and I quite like the benefits that I get. The lounge access is nice and from what I remember as Silver all those years ago there is indeed a difference - they do seem overall to look after you better.

I was travelling in December last year during all the snow chaos and I have to say that BA really did look after me very well indeed so it definately helps.
