At least with Apple customer service is top notch. I've had a lot of faulty products, but had a MBP screen replaced for free after warranty expired, an iPhone replaced after warranty expired though I made the complaint before, and a pair of earphones replaced, no questions asked. And this is just in 2010.
Have been an apple girl since the first Macintosh. Just love their customer service. Just recently when I had a minor and I emphasize minor problem with my ipad, the young man at the genius bar started the paper work for a new one without my asking for it. I refused it, since mine started working perfectly. Now that is service.
