This thread has been quiet for awhile, time for an update.

My wife and I stayed here four four nights in early January on our tour through SE Asia. Main purpose for the stay was more or less a technical stop coming from HKT to DPS. (Supposedly, Air Asia doesn't sell connections, and rather make a really long layover at KUL, we chose to "overnight" in KL for a few nights.) That and I'm always looking for an excuse to add another city/airport to my my list of places I've been.

We weren't feeling very well on this portion of our trip, so we weren't up for going out and doing many of the tourist things. For the most part, we hung out at the hotel but did get out some.

Anyway, the debate was between this place and the Westin. After considering many informed opinions, we opted to keep our reservation here. All else being equal, we would have taken the Westin, but at a Category 2, I couldn't really convince myself the Westin was worth the extra points. That, and we really liked the convenience of the monorail.

We arrived really late from HKT, and the pre-paid taxi from LCCT cost RM 153 after midnight. (Strangely, on the way back, without paying the late-night markup, it was still RM 140.)

We were upgraded, presumably because of my gold status, to a Towers View room (or whatever they call it) on the 31st floor. I opted to skip the club upgrade. They never offered me the "instant awards" pamphlet I've gotten used to, and when asked, was told I could pay RM 150/night for the room. I decided to pass.

My wife and I really liked the physical property and the nice view of the Petronas towers.

We did try to borrow DVD's from the front desk, but the operator basically told us there were slim pickings and most of them were always rented out. That sucked.

We had a few items from room service, some which were really quite good, and reasonably priced. (I generally find room service in the USA to be a bit pricey for my budget.) Their ice cream dish and saffron-mussels soup were wonderful.

Service? The concierge was helpful. I'm not a demanding traveler, so I really don't know how to evaluate service. For me, good service is when nothing goes wrong, but I realize that's a bit of a low standard. I also don't ask for hard-to-get reservations/tickets/whatnot.

There are a couple of decent non-hotel dining options behind the hotel, on "Heritage Row."

We'd like to visit KL again when we're feeling better, and just to shake things up, may just try the Westin.

ETA: One minor annoyance: I couldn't get free wi-fi or hard-wired connection at the "Link @ Sheraton". This was in contrast to the Sheraton Krabi, where free-wi was available in the Link room.
