I received a notice last month from ATS that I committed a red light violation while renting from Hertz. Fair enough, I thought. I turned right on red about 2 blocks away from returning my car to the Hertz facility at LAX, how much could the fine be?

Well, how does $476 sound? Plus the $30 fee from ATS. Plus I had 2 days to remit $506 to ATS.

Needless to say, I researched this issue and called Hertz, but they didn't help. They only referred me to ATS. Well, ATS isn't budging.

Basically, I'm no longer a Hertz customer and will consider catching a cab next time I need a ride.

If anyone knows how to contest this situation at this late date, please let me know.
