Today the Air Canada agent told me that LX146 will not be released since I’m already booked on the flight as AC6826. In order to make this work, I would have to cancel my booking and book again. However, this would be more expensive since I used the 15% discount code, which is no longer available. And who knows if the Star Alliance Upgrade would go through.

Lesson learned: for Star Alliance upgrades one would have to use an agent, since the aircanada.com will always give the codeshare flight number.

This would have one of the few possibilities to use a Star Alliance upgrade. The cost of the whole trip (YFC-YYZ-ZRH-DEL-FRA-YYZ-YFC) is just under $1,900. YYZ-ZRH can be upgraded for 8 points and FRA-YYZ for 14.

Finally, one would think that all this information could have been related to me on my first call to Aeroplan!
