Sorry, I read "find myself with no status" to mean that he/she had no status currently. I likely misread the situation.

Even so, unless you have plans for flights right away in March that you absolutely NEED to have PM status for, I wouldn't see the harm in taking a few mileage runs to get to FO or MAYBE GM, and then letting the flights you have to take anyway carry you the rest of the way to PM. If my upgrades last year are any indication, PM isn't that much better than GM these days .
