Maho beach is a good 20-45 minute ride across the island depending on traffic. Keep in mind there is really one major road around the island and if there's a wreck it can take a while! Well worth going over there though!

The location isn't great for doing activities on the Dutch side, but for getting to Orient beach during the day and the stuff around Oyster Bay it's great. Make sure to get over to Grand Case for dinner one night as well - along with Marigot. However do yourself a favor and drive the route during the day at least once so you'll know what to expect at night.

Honestly the beach is the best part of this Westin. The location isn't the best for doing things in the hot spots of either side of the island. However within a short and safe driving distance of the hotel you have great pizza, seafood, and a good beach bar.
