Yes, apply for the SPG card just to get the sign up bonus only.
However, be aware of Amex trying to screw you by withholding your bonus points or flagging you for Financial Review.
If you do get your bonus point, cancel the SPG card before the annual fee due date and move on to the next card.
Amex is not worth doing long term business with.
