It's in writing for each of us, so my expectation would be that any "surprise" would be taken care of. This is what it says on the BusinessClassic summary we received:
Avoid a monthly service fee:
Maintain required minimum monthly balance
OR
Link to a Chase Premium Checking or Chase Premier Platinum Checking
OR
Link to an active Chase business credit card
OR
Have 5 or more debit card purchases post each statement period (excludes ATM and cash advance transactions).
The bolding occurs on the account summary, the English is simple enough, and I questioned her in person as well. Since I am linked to a Chase Premium checking AND have the business credit card, I'm confident I have met two of the four ways to avoid a monthly fee.
Quoted from the Chase website:
Products and services described as well as associated fees, charges, interest rates and balance requirements may differ among different geographic locations.
This in itself may explain some of the differences that people have reported.
